Executive Headshot Images for Business Use

We held an Executive Headshot Day this week for the Movers & Shakers marketing group in Tampa, a chapter of Business Network International (BNI). I’ve belonged to this group for nine years now, and have met a lot of incredible business owners along the way. One of the members (Paula DeBlasio – owner of Hollywood Venue) who is responsible for keeping the group’s web page updated noticed that quite a few had the dreaded “silhouette” placeholder on their individual profile instead of a decent professional business headshot. She approached me about offering a day where members could come to the studio for an updated photo. Yesterday was that day!

Some of the members are in business working for themselves, others for large companies. Because the image I’d be providing would be allowed to be used for any social or print media they wished, each of them had slightly different needs with how it would be lit, cropped, posed, and what sort of background would work best. This is my kind of challenge. I photographed 16 members in one day, and while some needed a simple executive type headshot on a neutral professional background, others had background needs that had to match color schemes on ads, business cards, and websites.

Lighting ranged from traditional portrait lighting, which works great for the more formal corporate portraits, to “clam shell” lighting for a fashion look, or flat lighting for a few that needed to be used for print ads. Some of the background colors were adjusted in post-production to match color scheme for their current branded look.

It was a lot of fun working with a variety of people, each needing a specific look. But the best part is getting to know these business owners. It’s small business that keeps the economy thriving in the good times, and propped up in the bad times. A special thanks to all who attended and participated!
