It was a slow process, typically taking a few days before you could come pick up your black and white passport photos. We purchased a Polaroid Passport Camera to begin creating them instantly, and in color! The Polaroid images were not that great, the chemicals would gum up the camera and sometime tear the images as they were pulled out, and the film was expensive. One day the camera broke down and a replacement was too expensive. For a few years, we just quit offering passport photos unless you wanted them with film and didn’t need them the same day.
Then digital came along and completely changed the game. We found that we could create the images with our studio camera and print them instantly, without too much fuss, and BOOM! we were all over it.
