Pet Photographer
You can get just about anyone to snap a photo of your pet, heck, you can even do it yourself, but finding a PROFESSIONAL Pet Photographer here in Tampa who has the experience, knowledge, and equipment to do it right, is a bit more difficult.
Most pets – particularly dogs – are sometimes skittish about being photographed. It’s not normal for them. It takes time, it takes patience, and it takes know-how. I’ve been a dog owner much of my life. I’m a fan of Cesar Millan, and wish I had his whispering talents. I don’t, but I DO know a thing or two about how to photograph “most” dogs (let’s face it, some dogs will just NOT let you near them with a camera).
We had to lay our beloved Weimaraner, Lucy, to rest earlier this year. My son decided he wanted another dog, but being in the military, he’s only in one place for short bursts of time, usually three years at a time, and just this year was sent to the University of Nevada, Reno, to teach ROTC. He purchased Shiner, an eight week old Vizsla, from a family here in the bay area, and asked us to help. Our job to date, has been to housetrain him and get him a bit of training on all the usual activities; walking, sitting, not jumping, etc. Logan arrives this weekend to take him back to Nevada where Shiner will live until Logan’s next assignment. Should that assignment take him overseas again (he’s been stationed in Hawaii, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Italy), then Shiner will return to us for the duration.
So, back to Pet Photographers in Tampa… Newsome’s Studio of Photography is located in Carrollwood (North Tampa), in Cypress Point Office Park. But when it comes to pets, the office park is not exactly “pet friendly,” so we do all pet portraits on location. That usually means the client’s home where your pet is more comfortable, but occasionally at a neutral location like pet-friendly parks, etc.
The images below, were of Shiner, taken at three months of age. The black background and lighting setup can be brought to your home location for a studio finished look as well.
